Is it really worth it?
Why would someone reupholster old furniture when they could get something brand new for the same price or cheaper?
This is one of the most common questions we’re asked here at Makos Furniture & Design.
While it’s often fairly inexpensive to buy new, there’s a drastic difference in build, quality, and materials. The handcrafted quality of old furniture can hardly be matched by today’s machines and assembly lines, and there’s a reason they say things were “better in the old days.”
So the answer to the question above is simple. When it comes to heirloom-quality pieces, the extra time and attention it takes to reupholster is worth it in the end. If you have any questions about whether or not a piece of your furniture can be saved, we’d be happy to help.
